Hunt Ortmann Palffy Nieves Darling & Mah, Inc. is pleased to provide a major update regarding the victory in a month-long jury trial held in San Luis Obispo County Superior Court this past May. The Firm represented a family-owned general engineering contractor who was hired for a construction project by the defendant, a California Central Coast municipality.
On May 27th 2024, the jury issued a unanimous verdict in favor of our client awarding damages in the amount of $471,114.88.
Subsequent to this jury verdict, and as a result of post-verdict settlement negotiations, the municipality and our client signed a settlement agreement in the amount of $1.5 million to cover the judgment amount as well as attorneys fees and costs. Additionally, the municipality rescinded the debarment of our client and issued a rare public apology.
Both the jury verdict and the post-trial settlement are exceptional results on behalf of our client.
This outcome was achieved by the efforts of attorneys John Darling and Patricia J. Wolfe.
