Hunt Ortmann Palffy Nieves Darling & Mah, Inc. welcomed several new attorneys to the firm in 2025. This week, the attorney spotlight is Associate, John V. McNulty. John represents clients in a wide range of construction related matters involving mechanic’s liens, contract disputes, construction defects, public works, as well as business disputes and litigation. John also has extensive trial, appellate, settlement, and dispute resolution experience.
Prior to joining Hunt Ortmann, John served as a regulatory attorney representing a large public utility. He has also represented a wide range of clients in the public and private sector on real estate, transactional, and civil rights matters.
John is licensed to practice law in the States of California and New York. He is also admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, United States District Court for the Central District of California, and United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
John obtained a Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia Law School and an undergraduate degree in history from the University of California, Davis. John played rugby at both universities.

In his first months at Hunt Ortmann, he first chaired a commercial construction arbitration and facilitated advantageous settlements for several clients.
