Shannen Garrett is an associate at Hunt Ortmann Palffy Nieves Darling & Mah, Inc. Prior to joining Hunt Ortmann, Ms. Garrett was Principal Attorney/Owner of her law practice with a focus on plaintiffs’ employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour claims. Ms. Garrett also contracted with outside labor and employment practices assisting in those areas as well as business litigation, and single-plaintiff FEHA litigation matters. Ms. Garrett’s labor and employment law background and experience includes the drafting and revising of employee handbooks and policies, updating Illness and Injury Prevention Programs (IIPP) in compliance with changes in the law, conducting audits of work schedules and pay, and drafting employee agreements, furlough agreements, arbitration agreements, and settlement/release agreements. Ms. Garrett also analyzes investigation findings concerning allegations of discrimination and harassment and provides advice as to remedial measures. Her research covers a wide variety of employment issues including employee benefits, and privacy rights.
Ms. Garrett received her Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, Organizational Studies from the University of California, Davis. She is licensed to practice in California in all state courts.
